This fall Hulu Plus is coming to Roku. For those of you who may have been living under a rock. Roku is a digital video player that you hook up straight to your tv. The Roku digital video player streams movies and shows directly to your tv over wifi.

Hulu Plus is going to be a subscription service. The original press release price was $9.99. However, just a few weeks ago Hulu announced that the price was dropped to $7.99 a month. The digital video player starts at $59.99 and goes up to $99. Don’t fret if you have an older style because they will all be usable with Hulu Plus. Many other, different devices are going to be Hulu Plus compatable. This list includes PS3, Xbox360, Tivo, Vizio tvs, and Blue-ray players.

With a Hulu Plus subscription you get many on-demand movies and tv shows. Some of the channels available include Fox, NBC, ABC, and many others. This Roku Hulu is expected to drastically cut down the amount of people counting on cable. With many people unhappy about their cable and satellite services more people will be turning to Roku and Hulu Plus to satisfy their tv needs.

Hulu’s original contracts with the television networks only covered playback from a PC. They had to re-negotiate to get rights to play on tv’s and other devices. So they came up with Hulu Plus and has to charge for it. Even still, some networks/shows are not onboard, which is why there are shows on Hulu that are still not available on Hulu Plus. It’s in Hulu’s best interest to get as many shows available as possible on Plus. From what I heard they are busy working on adding more and more tv shows and network channels. Who needs cable?
